Parkhouses was established in 1985 to provide accommodation and support for people with a learning disability. The proprietors and registered providers are Joe and Linda Zephir.

Joe and Linda trained as nurses for people with a learning disability in the 1970’s and then moved on to manage residential care homes for  learning disabled adults with Mencap.

They are now the responsible persons for Parkhouses and over see the management and standards of the homes.

The day to day care and support in the homes is offered by long serving experienced and well trained managers and support staff.

Over the years changing regulations and expectations of care for people with a learning disability have shaped Parkhouses into the excellent care facility it is today.

The service is “user led” and service users are consulted at every level from recruiting staff to choosing furniture. All planning is person centred and includes support to develop social and self help skills, lead a healthy lifestyle, explore educational opportunities and seek employment.

All the facilities provided at Parkhouses comply with current care standards and have taken the following into account

The specific needs of service users

The requirements of the CSCI

The requirements of the environmental health

The requirements of the Fire safety Officers

The Care standards act

The National Minimum Standards Care Homes for Adults 18-65

Our aim is to ensure that each service user has a safe and secure home where they receive high quality individualised care and are supported to be as independent as possible.
