We encourage service users in our care homes to maintain an active lifestyle and to take up opportunities to develop themselves. Some service users may attend local resources for part or all of the week.

Others may benefit from an individual programme planned with them by our staff which utilises local community based facilities.

Our days are structured around the individual’s abilities and interests. Social and self-help skills are encouraged with regular outings.

Parkhouses operate a transport scheme which is available to all service users who wish to participate and is used regularly for activities, trips and shopping etc. We also use public transport to widen experiences; promote independence and social contact.

It is our long established policy to use as many local facilities as possible to promote social inclusion.

To this end we encourage and support service users to use local shops; hairdressers, libraries, clubs, churches, swimming baths and public houses.

We also support service users to exercise their right to vote; to go on holiday, to find employment and to be aware as much as is possible that with rights comes responsibility.
