A Bit About The Home |
This is a large house that is near to
Burnley town centre. It has a garden at the back
and cars can park there. It is not far to walk to
Burnley town centre. 13 people live in the home. |
There is a train station in Burnley.
There are lots of different bus routes. This means that
the people who live at the home can get around easily.
Some people like to travel in the cars at the home that
staff drive |
Most people who live
at the home have their own bedroom. Two people
share a room |
| |
THIS IS WHAT THE
CSCI DID WHEN WE WERE AT THE HOME. |
| |
| |
| |
We talked to 6 people
who live at the home. |
We also met one of the
families of the people who live at the home. |
We looked at some of
the policies and procedures in the office and what
people living in the home showed us. Policies are
rules about how to do things. Procedures tell
people how to follow the rules. |

WHAT THE HOME
DOES WELL |
| |
| |
| |
Before people come to
live in the home, they meet with people who care about
them. They tell everybody what they would like
help with, so that staff in the home know what to do to
help. |
If someone wants to
stay they can visit first and look around. They
will meet the staff that will help them. They will
meet other people living in the home and look at the
bedroom they will have. If this is al right,
they can move in. |
People living in the
home tell staff what they want to do. The staff
will help them and make sure they keep safe. |
There are lots of
things people liked to do.
Some people went to
college to learn.
People living in
the home went into town.
They went to pubs
for a drink and meet their friends at social clubs.
Everybody liked the
holidays they had.
They decided where
they would like to go.
Family and friends
visited.
This was very good. |
Everybody liked the
meals they had.
They could choose
what to eat.
They went shopping
for food and some people made meals. |
If people living in
the home are not well, the staff looked after them.
Sometimes their
doctor visited.
Everyone got help
to keep well.
If people have to
take tablets and cannot manage staff will help them if
they need it.
The staff
understands people who cannot speak very well. |
Everyone living in the
home could tell the manager and the staff if they were
not happy.
They knew that
people should not shout at them or hit them.
Staff would help
them if this happened, because they had been told to do
so. |
People living in the
home said it "was nice" and they "liked their bedrooms".
Their families were
very pleased that the home was nice and comfortable.
Everyone said the
home was always very clean. |
The staff that worked
in the home was very good.
They learned how to
care for people properly.
People living in
the home helped to choose new staff.
They trained new
staff how to care for them and to treat them with
respect.
This made everybody
happy. |
People living in the
home told the manager what they liked and what they
didn't like.
The manager was
glad because she knew what people wanted.
The Manager made
sure that everything was good and staff were shown how
to look after people and keep them safe.
Everyone listened
to the fire alarm and knew what to do to keep safe |
